Now that the British weather seems to be picking itself up from the depths of continuous wind, rain, cold and darkness – we’ve finally arrived at something that resembles spring/summer (slightly cloudy, mild breeze and touching 20 degrees).
With that in mind, today we’ll look at the best picnic spots in Manchester, also known as the best places to eat Soothe, because we have to shoehorn ourselves in somewhere otherwise am i really marketing correctly?
Heaton Park
Nestled in the north of Manchester, Heaton Park is a sprawling green oasis that offers the perfect backdrop for a picturesque picnic. With it’s vast open spaces, serene lakes and woodlands, this historic park provide ample opportunities to unwind and enjoy nature. Whether you’re lounging on the grassy lawns, exploring the ornamental gardens or admiring the scenic views from the elevated areas, Heaton Park is a great place to head for a day out. Just avoid 8th-9th of June, as you’ll be met with heaps of people going to Parklife!
New Islington Marina
Tucked away in the vibrant Ancoats area of Manchester. New Islington Marina offers a charming setting for a waterside picnic. This hidden gem boasts a tranquil canal basin surrounded by contemporary architecture and green spaces, creating a serene atmosphere for relaxation.
Take a leisurely stroll along the towpaths, watch the narrowboats glide by, or simply sit back and soak in the peaceful ambiance as you enjoy your picnic by the water’s edge.
Mayfield Park
Situated a stone throw from Piccadilly Station, Mayfield Park is a verdant urban oasis that provides a welcome retreat from the urban hustle. This relatively new, beautifully landscaped park features verdant lawns, colourful flower beds and mature trees, making it an idyllic spot for a leisurely picnic with friends or family. Whether you’re spreading out a blanket under the shade or lounging on one of the park benches, Mayfield Park offers a peaceful sanctuary amidst the bustling city streets.
Castefield Bowl
Steeped in history and charm, Castlefield Bowl offers a unique setting for an alfresco dining experience in Manchester. Set against the backdrop of the city’s industrial heritage, this iconic amphitheatre hosts a variety of events throughout the year, from Loyle Carner to Classical Hacienda nights. Whether you’re attending a live performance or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Castlefield Bowl provides a picturesque setting for the a memorable picnic under the open sky.
The Perfect Soothe Picnic
With the weather steering closing to the 20s, now is the perfect time to sample what our salads have to offer from our Menu. We’ve got Edamame Salad, Mediterranean Couscous, Baby Leaf Salad and Asian Slaw – all really vibrant, fresh and everything you could want in a summer salad.
We’ve selected 2 trays (take a mate!) incorporating all of these. First up, our Golden Grains for that lovely nutting pearl barley paired with the sweet potato. Topped with our Pan Seared Chicken Breast, with the Baby Leaf Salad and Couscous to complete the meal. Top off with our Garlic and Herb Sauce for the best flavour combination.
Next up, we’ve got out custom tray special (IYKYK) with a base of Spinach, Flakey Salmon, Edamame Salad and Asian Slaw. Topping this with our Teriyaki sauce for the perfect pan-Asian inspired meal bursting with flavour.
Most Soothe meals aren’t complete without one of our homemade smoothies or shakes. For this one, our Tropical Smoothie seems fitting. It has everything you could want in a refreshing summer drink with Mango, Pineapple and Kiwi, competed with the excellent hydration source that is coconut water.
For the 2nd drink, pick yourself up a Strawberry & Mint Protein Shake. Summer is the season for strawberries and what better way to celebrate it with this fantastic combo that will contribute to your 5 a day and give you that extra hit of protein.
Feeling the need for a treat? Then our Ultimate Brownie are the way to go. Fudgy, Stick and Luxurious – these aren’t to be missed.
